It was a night to remember for PSP 2005's Under-18 squad as they lifted the Regional Cup following a commanding 3–1 victory over local rivals Southside FC. Played in front of an enthusiastic crowd at Greenfields Sports Centre, the match was a fitting conclusion to one of the club's most impressive seasons to date.
First Half: PSP Take Control Early
From the first whistle, PSP 2005 looked comfortable on the ball. The high press disrupted Southside's build-up play and created a string of early chances. The breakthrough arrived on 18 minutes when striker Marcus Webb latched onto a through ball from midfield captain Jordan Afolabi and slotted calmly past the keeper to make it 1–0.
Southside threatened briefly just before the half-hour mark with a curling effort that came back off the post, but PSP's goalkeeper, Liam Osei, was equal to everything else thrown at him. A second goal arrived three minutes before the interval — a stunning 25-yard strike from Afolabi himself — sending the PSP faithful into raptures at half-time.
Second Half: Resilience Sees PSP Home
Southside FC came out with renewed determination in the second half and pulled one back on 55 minutes through a well-worked set-piece routine, briefly raising the tension. However, PSP's defensive organization — expertly drilled by Head Coach Roberts — held firm under pressure.
The killer blow came on 78 minutes as substitute Elijah Mensah burst through the Southside back line and finished with composure to restore the two-goal advantage. The squad held on professionally for the final whistle, setting off jubilant scenes on the pitch.
I am incredibly proud of every single one of these players. They have worked tirelessly all season and this trophy is the perfect reward for their dedication and belief. — Head Coach Roberts
