Pre-Season Friendly: PSP 2005 Senior XI Draw 2–2 With Harfield Town

Encouraging signs from the Senior XI ahead of the new season despite conceding late.

PSP 2005 senior players in a pre-season friendly

PSP 2005's senior XI opened their pre-season programme with an entertaining 2–2 draw against Harfield Town on Saturday afternoon. Played over two 45-minute halves at Harfield's ground, the match gave Head Coach Roberts his first opportunity to assess a largely reshuffled squad ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

Debut Displays Impress

Two trialists featured from the start, with left midfielder Kofi Asante particularly impressive — providing the assist for PSP's opener with a pacey run down the flank. New signing Dan Ferraro added a smart header to double the lead before half-time, showing the kind of presence in the box that the club has been looking for.

Harfield Level in Second Half

Harfield Town, who compete at Step 5 of the non-league pyramid, demonstrated their quality in the second period. Two goals in as many minutes midway through the half levelled proceedings. PSP pushed for a winner but were unable to convert a late penalty opportunity.

Despite the frustrating late equaliser, the overall performance gave the coaching staff plenty of positives to take forward. 'The intensity and shape we showed in the first half was exactly what we've been working on in training,' said Roberts. 'There's still plenty of work to do, but I'm encouraged.'

Next Fixture

PSP 2005 face Stonebridge Rangers in their second pre-season fixture next Saturday, kicking off at 2pm. Supporters are welcome to attend free of charge. The new season begins on 5 September 2026.
